رئيس بلدية غزة يبحث مع منسقة الأمم المتحدة تداعيات تأخر الإعمار

استقبل رئيس بلدية غزة د. يحيى السراج، نائب المنسق الخاص للأمم المتحدة لعملية السلام في الشرق الأوسط ومنسق الشئون الإنسانية في الأراضي الفلسطينية لين هاستينغز، في مكتبه بمقر البلدية الرئيس، أثناء زيارة الأخيرة لمدينة غزة لبحث المواضيع المتعلقة بقضية إعادة الإعمار، وتنسيق إدخال المواد وتسهيل حركة المعابر فيما يخص المشاريع التنموية ومشاريع إعادة الإعمار.

وأعرب رئيس بلدية غزة عن شكره للسيدة هاستينغز لاستجابتها السريعة للبيان الذي أصدر حول توقف العديد من المشاريع التنموية وتأخر مشاريع إعادة الإعمار، وزيارتها لمدينة غزة والبلدية بشكل خاص.

كما أبدت السيدة هاستينغز سرورها بهذه الزيارة، وأنها تأتي ضمن اهتمامات الأمم المتحدة لإنقاذ الوضع الإنساني في غزة، ومحاولة دعم جهود إعادة الإعمار بالسرعة الممكنة.

وأطلع د. السراج السيدة هاستينغز على قائمة المواد الطارئة اللازمة للمشاريع المفتوحة والتي توقفت بفعل منع دخول المواد اللازمة وعددها 13 مشروعًا، في حين أن هناك عدد آخر من المشاريع المعلقة ولم تبدأ بعد، بالإضافة إلى مشاريع إعادة إعمار الطرق في المدينة وشبكات المياه والصرف الصحي فيما بعد العدوان الأخير على غزة، لازالوا معلّقين ولم يبدأوا حتى اللحظة، نظراً لعدم توفر المواد والآليات كذلك.

من جانب آخر، أكد رئيس البلدية على عدم فعالية ونجاح آلية إعادة الإعمار GRM المعمول بها منذ سنوات، حيث أنها تؤثر سلباً على سير وتقدم مشاريع الإعمار.

كما أطلع د. السراج المنسقة الأممية على مشروع معالجة النفايات الطبية الخطرة والمعدية (تقنية الميكرويف) الذي تم افتتاحه مؤخراً بتمويل من صندوق التمويل الإنساني في الأرض الفلسطينية المحتلة، حيث أعربت عن أملها في تحسن الوضع الإنساني في أقرب وقت ممكن، وتسهيل عملية إعادة الإعمار بالتعاون مع جميع الأطراف ذات العلاقة.

The Mayor of Gaza receives the Deputy Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process and Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

Dr. Yahya Sarraj - Mayor of Gaza received Ms. Lynn Hastings in the Municipality of Gaza, during Hastings visit to Gaza City to discuss the issues related to the Gaza reconstruction in the aftermath of May escalation. The range of the issues discussed included the coordination of the entry of the urgent materials and facilitating the access across the Israeli crossing particularly in regard to facilitation of implementation of development and reconstruction projects.

The Mayor of Gaza expressed his appreciations and gratitude to Ms. Hastings for her swift response to the statement issued by the Municipality of Gaza (MoG) on the suspension and delay of many development and reconstruction projects, as well as, her visit to Gaza City and the municipality in particular.

Meanwhile, Ms. Hastings expressed her pleasure to have the opportunity to visit MoG, as it comes within the mandate of the United Nations to address the grave humanitarian situation in Gaza, and support every possible action of the reconstruction efforts immediately.

During the meeting, Dr. Sarraj, presented the list of emergency materials needed for 13 ongoing projects that have been suspended due the lack of materials as a result of the Israeli imposed ban on the entry of reconstruction materials. Additionally, Dr. Sarraj is worried about that some emergency new projects and other projects responding to urgent needs to rehabilitation and reconstruction of roads and water and sanitation networks in the city that have been severely damaged during the recent escalation on Gaza, are suspended and have not started until now, given the unavailability of materials and necessary equipment as well.

On the other hand, the Mayor of Gaza emphasized the fact of the ineffectiveness, inefficiency, and near failure of the Gaza Reconstruction Mechanism (GRM), that has been in place for years, to meet the needs of the reconstruction and development project adequately as it negatively affects the progress of reconstruction projects in all terms and aspects.

At the end of the visit, Dr. Sarraj seized the opportunity of Ms. Hastings to jointly visit the new project of "Treatment of Hazardous and Infectious Medical Waste" (Microwaving Technique) that was inaugurated recently with generous funding from the oPt Humanitarian Fund (managed by OCHA), where she hopes that the humanitarian situation will improve in the immediate future, and that the reconstruction process will be further facilitated in cooperation with all relevant and interested parties.
