Gaza Municipality: Occupation Threats to Invade the City Deepen the Humanitarian Catastrophe

The city of Gaza is facing unprecedented humanitarian conditions, with more than 1.2 million residents and displaced persons crowded into dire circumstances—amid destroyed homes, severed roads, and disabled water wells—while the occupation’s threats to invade the city continue.

Gaza Municipality stressed that these threats only serve to deepen the humanitarian catastrophe. Since October 2023, the war has devastated critical infrastructure, including roads, water and sewage networks, public parks, and municipal service vehicles, while causing the accumulation of massive amounts of waste throughout the city. Civil society organizations and residents alike have confirmed that no safe place remains to seek refuge.

The Municipality noted that the mass displacement and severe overcrowding have further undermined its ability to provide essential services under siege conditions, with fuel and equipment barred from entry. It warned of the imminent collapse of municipal services, posing a direct threat to the lives of thousands of civilians.

Gaza Municipality calls on the international community to urgently intervene to stop the genocide, support the city’s resilience, and engage with the “Life for Gaza – Stop the Genocide” campaign as an urgent humanitarian outcry to protect civilians and safeguard their right to life.
