During a Workshop Organized by Gaza Municipality with the Participation of the Public and Private Sectors
Participants Recommend Unifying Visions for Reconstruction After the End of the Genocidal War

Participants in a workshop emphasized the necessity of unifying visions within a comprehensive national framework for reconstruction after the end of the genocidal war waged by the Israeli occupation on the Gaza Strip for nearly two years. They also highlighted the importance of mobilizing Arab and international support through specialized unions and preparing a roadmap for the reconstruction of industrial cities.

This came during a workshop organized by Gaza Municipality with the participation of both the public and private sectors. The workshop was attended by Gaza Mayor Dr. Yahya Sarraj, Municipal Council Member Dr. Ali Al-Habeel, and several department directors. Also present from the Ministry of Industry were Undersecretary Zaghlool Samhan, Head of the Industrial Cities Authority Khaled Al-Omleh, along with a team from the ministry.

The workshop also brought together the “Phoenix Gaza” action plan team, led by Dr. Yara Salem and Dr. Omar Kittaneh; the Federation of Industries team, headed by Nassar Nassar; the President of the Contractors Union, Eng. Suhail Al-Siqaa; Board Member of the Businessmen’s Association, Abdullah Mushtaha; and the Director of PalTrade, Mohammed Skeik, in addition to representatives from other institutions.

Participants stressed the importance of forming a technical committee comprising the various institutions involved in the workshop. The committee’s role would be to unify and review studies and plans, disseminate available research, engage all stakeholders in planning and implementation stages, and adopt an integrated plan for industrial zones that considers both geographic distribution and economic dimensions.

The workshop also discussed the “Phoenix Gaza” action plan, launched by the Union of Gaza Strip Municipalities last January, its relationship with the industrial sector, and ways to integrate this sector into the reconstruction phase, as well as the challenges it faces. The discussions further addressed other issues related to reconstruction and industry, including future challenges for the industrial sector after the genocidal war, such as allocating new industrial zones and relocating destroyed facilities.

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation across sectors to support reconstruction efforts, advance the industrial sector, and develop industrial areas in Gaza City.
