Gaza Municipality and the ICRC Discuss Emergency Projects and Sign a “Cash-for-Work” Agreement in the Solid Waste Sector

The Gaza Municipality held a meeting with a delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to discuss ways to strengthen humanitarian cooperation and implement emergency projects aimed at improving basic services and supporting community resilience amid the ongoing challenges.

The meeting took place at the municipality’s temporary headquarters in Gaza City, with the participation of Mayor Dr. Yahya Al-Sarraj, Deputy Mayor Mr. Tamer Al-Rees, Municipal Council Member Eng. Loay Ayad, and several department directors. The ICRC delegation was represented by Mr. André Pascalari, Deputy Head of the Sub-Delegation in Gaza, and Ms. Nisreen AlMadhoun, Head of the Gaza and North Gaza Office.

During the meeting, both parties signed a cooperation agreement to implement a “Cash-for-Work” project in the solid waste management sector. The initiative aims to improve the urban environment in Gaza City and provide temporary employment opportunities to support affected families, while ensuring the continuity of essential public services.

Both sides emphasized the importance of continued coordination and joint efforts to implement additional humanitarian and service projects that respond to the needs of the population and contribute to maintaining public cleanliness and enhancing municipal services across Gaza City.
