Gaza Municipality: Urgent Need for Pipes and Station Equipment to Halt Wastewater Leakage Crisis

In light of the failure of the sewage system and the shutdown of pumping stations, the crisis of wastewater leakage into streets and rainwater collection basins is escalating day by day. This situation is intensifying the health and environmental emergency facing the city, resulting from the extensive damage inflicted on sewage infrastructure due to the ongoing hostilities since October 2023.

The damage to sewage facilities includes the destruction of approximately 175,000 linear meters of sewage networks, partial to complete damage to 8 pumping stations, 3 rainwater collection basins, 15,000 meters of rainwater drainage pipelines, as well as 3 main rainwater collection basins within the city.

The municipality urgently requires, during the current year 2025, the repair and rehabilitation of these facilities, along with the provision of essential supplies including pipes, pumping station equipment, and maintenance materials for sewage and rainwater networks to restore minimum service levels
