Gaza Municipality Signs Twinning Agreement with Riace Municipality, Italy
As part of efforts to strengthen cultural ties and express solidarity with Gaza, the Mayor of Gaza, Dr. Yahya R. Sarraj, and the Mayor of Riace, Domenico Lucano, signed a symbolic twinning agreement between the two municipalities.
The agreement aims to enhance cultural and humanitarian relations between the two communities and reflects the solidarity of the people of Riace with Gaza, as well as their rejection of the genocide being carried out by the Israeli occupation against the people of Gaza.
The signing ceremony was attended by Mayor Lucano on behalf of the Riace local community, along with representatives from various civil society and human rights organizations from across Italy.
The agreement affirms the support of Riace’s residents for the people of Gaza in the face of ongoing violence and destruction inflicted on civilians. It also serves as a means to preserve Palestinian memory, protect the human narrative of Gaza’s population, and foster deeper cultural and grassroots connections between the two communities.
The Riace Municipality reiterated its solidarity with Gaza and its people in the face of genocide, its commitment to preserving the memory of the tragedy unfolding in Gaza, and its desire to build symbolic humanitarian ties that contribute to strengthening Gaza’s resilience.
