تعيش مدينة غزة في ظروف اقتصادية وإنسانية غاية في الصعوبة، حيث تعرضت أسواقها المركزية إلى دمار هائل جراء العدوان الأخير. هذه الأسواق، التي تشكل ركيزة أساسية للاقتصاد المحلي، أصبحت اليوم شاهدة على حجم الدمار الذي لحق بها، والذي أثر بشكل مباشر على الحياة اليومية للسكان وسبل رزقهم.
وأوضحت بلدية غزة أن العديد من أسواق المدينة قد تعرضت لدمار جزئي وكلي، والذي بدوره أدى إلى فقدان مصادر دخل للكثير من الباعة والعاملين في هذه الأسواق، فيما شمل الدمار الكلي سوق الشيخ رضوان، وسوق البسطات في حي الشجاعية، وسوق الخضار بحي الشجاعية، بينما لحقت أضرارا متفاوتة في أسواق أخرى مثل: سوق اليرموك الشعبي، سوق معسكر الشاطئ، حسبة السمك، سوق الدلالة، خان الخضار، ومحلات البلدية في سوق الزاوية، بالإضافة إلى مباني سوق فراس الملاصقة لمبنى الأرشيف.
تفعيل الأسواق
وفي إطار جهودها الحثيثة؛ لإعادة تفعيل الأسواق الرئيسية في المدينة، نظمت البلدية اجتماعًا لمناقشة الإجراءات التنفيذية لنقل بسطات شارع الصحابة والشوارع المحيطة إلى سوق اليرموك الشعبي. وقد تم تجهيز السوق بكافة الخدمات الأساسية؛ ليكون جاهزًا لاستقبال أصحاب البسطات المنقولة، بهدف توفير بيئة عمل مناسبة وداعمة.
ولكن مع تصاعد العدوان؛ توقفت الأعمال على هذا المشروع الحيوي، إذ امتلأ سوق اليرموك بخيام النازحين، مما حال دون استكمال نقل البسطات وإعادة تنشيط الحركة التجارية في السوق كما كان مخططًا.
فيما تعد هذه الأسواق جزءاً أساسياً من حياة المواطن الغزي، حيث يعتمد عليها العديد من العائلات لتأمين احتياجاتها اليومية. وقد خلّف الأضرار الناجمة عن هذا الدمار عن تعطيل الأنشطة التجارية اليومية بشكل كامل؛ مما يزيد من الضغط على الاقتصاد المحلي، ويعمق من المعاناة الاجتماعية والإنسانية.

Occupation Turns Gaza’s Markets into Ruins After Once Bustling with Life
Gaza City is enduring extremely difficult economic and humanitarian conditions, as its central markets have suffered extensive destruction due to the recent aggression. These markets, once vibrant hubs and essential pillars of the local economy, now stand as stark reminders of the widespread devastation, directly affecting residents' daily lives and livelihoods.
Gaza Municipality reported that many of the city's markets sustained either partial or complete destruction, resulting in the loss of income for numerous vendors and workers. Markets that were entirely leveled include Sheikh Radwan Market, the street vendors’ market in Al-Shuja’iyya, and the vegetable market in Al-Shuja’iyya. Other markets suffered varying degrees of damage, including Al-Yarmouk Market, Beach Camp Market, the Fish Market, Dalala Market, the Vegetable Khan, and the municipality-owned shops in Al-Zawiya Market. Damage also extended to the Firas Market buildings adjacent to the Municipal Archive.
Efforts to Revitalize the Markets
As part of its ongoing efforts to reactivate the city's main markets, the municipality organized a meeting to discuss the implementation of relocating street vendors from Al-Sahaba Street and surrounding areas to Al-Yarmouk Market. The market was fully equipped with essential services to accommodate the relocated vendors and provide a suitable and supportive working environment.
However, with the escalation of hostilities, this vital project came to a halt. Al-Yarmouk Market became occupied by tents sheltering displaced persons, preventing the completion of vendor relocation and the revival of commercial activity as originally planned.
These markets are a fundamental part of daily life for Gaza’s residents, with many families depending on them to meet their everyday needs. The damage has led to a complete disruption of daily commercial operations, placing additional strain on the local economy and deepening the ongoing social and humanitarian crisis.
